Democratic Action Unity Roundtable (La Mesa de la Unidad de Acción Democrática - MUAD) is a Cuban organization which concentrates its activities on elections in 2018. Its main goal is to select candidates from various opposition organizations and give them an appropriate training to become competitive in domestic political contest. Yamilka Abascal Sánchez from FLAMUR organization (The Latin American Federation of Rural Women) was selected in the training in Colombia. On October 27, she was detained in order to be prevented from attending the training. Yamilka is four months pregnant and she had to endure psychological attacks by state Security officials during the detention which should have a negative impact on the baby. For that reason, her husband José Rolando Casares Soto with other relatives and friends went immediately to the Deparment of the National Revolutionary Police in Pinar del Río and aked for her release. The training in Colombia should have started on October 29, so Yamilka was released the day after. After that, she was driven to the hospital to be examined whether the baby and she would be all right. The family is considereng making a complaint to the Military Prosecutor.
