On the morning of 6th December 6, Mr. Jorge Agramonte López, a member of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), was transferred to "Los Edificios" as it is known to the place where the Guantánamo prison headquarters is located. There he was attended to by Major Rubén, head of the Department of State Security (DSE) at that centre, who threatened him that difficult days would come and that the best thing he could do was to remain calm and collaborate. The victim replied that he did not collaborate with dictators and that they could do whatever they wanted with him because no one would take away his right to freedom of expression. The talk went on for about 40 minutes until the officer known as Yorky moved him to the floors where the prisoners are. Upon arrival, the detainee found his belongings scattered on the floor, family letters, other communications, and some of his clothes were torn and burned. Mr. Agramonte reacted by protesting what had happened, the officers and Major Ruben told him that the responsibility would be on some enemy he would have.
Mr. Agramonte is in prison for disobedience and assault on authority. According to his testimony, these crimes were fabricated by the regime to keep him in prison for his high level of activism on the island. He also denounced that he has been subjected to beatings inside the prison.
