Lady in White and her family were brutally beaten in Holguín

On the Mother's day, Rosa and her family (her husband Pedro Alberto and three children: Yadier, 13; Yunier, 15 and Yunior Alberto, 25) were going to the cementary in order to put flowers on her mother's grave. She parked on the roadside in order to pick up her sister Elena and her husband, when a red Ford truck stopped few meters from them. Two unknown men that were holding tubes jumped out of the truck and started to approach to Rosa and shout offensive phrases and then beat them. Despite the large amount of people around, the criminals did not spare them. Eventhough Rosa's son Yunior lied on the ground covered in blood, they continued beating him. Elena was hit in the eyeball and buttocks. Yadier was beaten with one of the tubes in the back for what he had to stay at home for several days short of breath and having fever. Yunier was punched in the region of the cervical certebrae. During the beating, one of the criminals told Rosa: "The next time, we will run the truck over you and over your children." In the middle of the fight, a man in a civilian clothes who claimed to be policeman showing no document to prove it, appeared. Instead of acting as a law enforcement officer, he slapped Rosa and said, "Prostitute, you are representative of the Ladies in White in Holguin ". Suddenly, an unknown policeman came, picked up the tubes and told the victims to leave to their homes and that there absolutely nothing happened. The beating was so excessive that Rosa's husband was had to be taken immediately to the Lenin's Hospital. His conditions were described as "serious injuries of imminent danger of life" and his spleen had to be removed. He also received a traumatic blow to the cranial cavity that did not require stitches. Yunior Alberto was beaten on the intercostal regions and arms, he had linear skull fracture in the frontal region, which required stitches. The hospital did not want to give any medical assistance to Elena. The children were taken to the pediatric hospital without informing anyone about taking them there. A policeman told to the children without any interest in their feelings that the state of Pedro Alberto was serious and his life was in danger. As a result of all that injuries, the family of Rosa has incurred considerable financial expenses for medicine, transportation and food. Recently, Rosa found out about the identity of the criminals. They were father and son named: Aristides Fernandez Perez and Raul Fernandez Leyva. Rosa also made a complaint to the Municipal Prosecutor, but no one has responded yet.
