At 7:20 am, Jorge Luis Aveleira Rodríguez, accompanied by his two colleagues, was waiting at the boarding point in Jovellanos in order to get to Havana. At that moment, two law enforcement officers and a political police officer known as Dayron approached the group. Aveleira Rodríguez had an argument with Dayron who tried to prevent him from making a phone call. They were instructed to walk with the officers to the police station. When arrived, they were placed in an office on the second floor. After a while, Aveleira Rodríguez was taken to another place and the political police officer known as Darío and his colleagues proceeded to a check of his belongings. They confiscated his passport, ID photos, 200 CUC, cell phone and documents needed for an interview at the Embassy of Argentina scheduled for the next day. According to the criminal law, he was entitled to get a detention record and other documents issued by the officer on duty, but he did not get any of those. He was released at 8:30 pm on the same day.
