Activist from Matanzas detained on the street without knowing the reason and driven to the police unit



Félix Navarro Rodríguez, a former political prisoner, was detained right on the street in the city of Matanzas when he was trying to get to Havana, on Tuesday, 13 June 2017, at 6:30 am. Navarro Rodríguez was handcuffed and put in the patrol car no. 224. Nobody explained him the reason for the detention. When they arrived to the police station in the municipality of Playa, he was taken to a prison cell. He was not allowed to make any phone call, even if he asked for it more than once, which is against the Criminal Code, article 244. Before his release, he was interrogated by a secret police officer Darío Torres Barrios. At 12:30 pm, he was finally released.
