Human rights activist detained at home when preparing a meeting of Colegio de Pedagogos



Roberto Arsenio López Ramos was detained in his house by secret police officers Orestes Martínez and Captain Orlando Figueroa. Arsenio López is the president of the Colegio de Pedagogos de Cuba and was organizing a mutual meeting. However, from the very early in the morning, the State Security and law enforcement officers were preparing an action with the goal of preventing people to participate in the meeting. The above-mentioned officers appeared in Arsenio López's house and were looking for Charles Rodríguez. Eventually they were both detained and driven to the police station in Los Arabos. Arsenio López was kept in the lobby for about one hour. The officers confiscated his cell phone and when he wanted to go to toilet, the police chief said there was not any. At 1 pm, he got back his cell phone and was released.
