On 10 February 2019, Roberto de Jesús Quiñones Haces, an independent journalist from Guantánamo, was on his way to the Mariana Grajales Airport in order to get to the capital and participate in the Havana International Fair. However, he was detained and taken to the Municipal Unit of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in Guantánamo. There he was kept for two hours and he missed his flight to Havana as well as the event he was planning to join.
