An activist from Guantánamo sentenced to one year in prison



On 3 March 2021, a young activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Ariolbis Batista Moya, was a victim of a military operation conducted by the head of the State Security in Guantánamo known as Jaime Vera or Sergio, along with officials Kevin, Víctor, Lionis and Luis Ángel. The activist was driven to the Guantánamo Municipal Court. There, without being able to speak to anybody, he was sentenced to one year in prison for disrespect.
