On 8 March 2021, the State Security along with a National Revolutionary Police official, Lieutenant Feyo Nicle Hernández, detained an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Exon Carle Gainsa. The reason for the detention was that the activist had been allegedly distributing leaflets in front of the city hospital. Carle Gainsa was kept in detention for more then 48 hours. During that period, he was threatened by State Security official, Captain Alfredo Oliveros, with imprisonment in case he continued spreading enemy propaganda in the streets. Then the activist received an official warning due to his alleged involvement in enemy propaganda against the revolution.
