A journalist from CubaNet sentenced to one year of prison labor

On 7 August 2019, Roberto de Jesús Quiñones Haces, an independent journalist from Guantánamo, was summoned to the Guantanamo Municipal People's Court at 9:00. He had been accused of crime of resistance and disobedience as he had refused to pay a fine while being detained on 22 April 2019. The court sentenced him to one year in prison, which was later replaced by prison labor. The evidences proving that Quiñones Haces had been injured during the detention were not accepted by the court.
