Dannerys Gómez Galeto is a member of the Independent Trade Union Association of Cuba (ASIC). On Thursday, 8 August, she was detained in the municipality of Colón as a part of the police operation led by three secret police officers, namely: Orlando Figueroa, Dayron y Alberto Surí. That morning, Gómez Galeto was visiting, along with three other activists from their organization, a former political prisoner Iván Hernández Carrillo. When all four of them went to the Liberty Park in order to get on the car, they were detained and driven to the police station in Colón. When they arrived, they did not receive any document on their detention. The officers confiscated Gómez Galeto all the printed materials she was carrying. She was also given an official warning for keeping "subversive propaganda". She was released in Colón at 3:30 pm.
