Nelson Rafael Rodríguez Pairol, the Director of a JACU program, was taking a tour of the central-eastern provinces with the purpose of making work links. At the Bayamo interprovincial bus terminal, Nelson Rafael was detained by State Security officers and taken to the headquarters of the political police. There, he was interrogated by two officers who presented themselves as Lieutenant Colonel and Major. They asked questions about his stay in the province and let him know that he had been followed since his departure from Havana. In addition, they prohibited him to continue his tour to Santiago de Cuba y Guantánamo under the threat of making it impossible to travel to other provinces by detaining him for 72 hours or even for one week. He was later released under the supervision of security officers in civilian clothes on condition that he boarded the bus that goes directly to Havana.
