A woman-activist detained for her membership with an anti-government party

On October 10th, Marta Melon Mesa was heading to the national delegate's house of 'Partido Revolucionario Cubano' to celebrate the commemorative date of the liberation of slaves. Marta was intercepted by the secret police accompanied by the Head of law enforcement. They ordered her to return home and forced her into the patrol car when she refused to oblige. Once at the police station she was taken to the interrogation room where she was threatened. They told her that she should leave the party and that they would no longer tolerate her street protests. They continued to blackmail her by saying that she would be sent to the women's prison, an instituition far dangerous than the male one, if she refused to comply. They warned Marta to take their threats seriously since they would act any minute.
