On 5 January, 2019, an activist from the Cuban Reflection Movement (MCR) in Rodas, René Quiñones Contreras, was about to visit the national headquarters of his organization in Camajuaní. At 7 am, when leaving from Cienfuegos, he was arrested and driven to the First Unit of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) in this city. He was released on the same day at 5 pm after having been transported to his municipality of residence. He was fined 7,50 CUP for not having his ID on him, however he decided not to pay the fine.
