In the morning of January 6, 2019, the house of Julia Sedeno Morales, a Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) activist, was raided by the police and paramilitary groups led by the Department of State Security (DSE). According to the activist's account, the state agents had the objective of confiscating work media that according to them were hidden in their home, such as computers, printers, scanning equipment, office supplies, packets of sheets, laser toner, and printed materials, among other things. The search lasted about three hours, during which they were not able to confiscate what they were looking for, and they were only able to confiscate the activist's phone. After more than three hours searching for what they thought was in her house, they detained the activist and took her to the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) unit where she was held for more than 24 hours under intense interrogation until she was released, after issuing an official statement because she supposedly had links to counter-revolutionary elements. Julia was released at 12pm on January 7th.
