Activists of the San Isidro Movement (MSI), including activist Amaury Pacheco, were on their way to the MSI headquarters in Old Havana, where artist Luis Manuel Otero was on hunger and thirst strike, when state agents interrupted their passage and detained them. Activist Amaury Pacheco was taken to Villa Marista prison from 12:00 pm until 8 pm on May 1, 2021. During the detention the activist was subjected to constant interrogations in difficult conditions that included constant transfer between very cold or very hot rooms, dark and/or full of insects. He was also taken to a room where he was subjected to constant surveillance by a person who watched him insistently without speaking to him. In addition, the activist was recorded and shown an audiotape that allegedly incriminated him. Both the activist and his wife were victims of having their communications cut off and continue to be subjected to State surveillance in their home.
