Enrique Estrada Peña was going to participate in several events carried by Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) in Santiago de Cuba Province which were being held to demand the release of political prisoners, the end of repression and respect for civil and human rights. At 5:40, Enrique, along with other activists, was detained in the bus he was travelling by. State Security official Montalvo did not submit any appripriate documents and took him to the Police Department in Caimanera, where he was threatened for his activies within UNPACU. He was released several hours later.
