Marcos Antonio Moran Pelegrin was about to attend Mass and following protest march in the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba. This event was being conducted to demand the release of political prisoners, the end of repression and to draw attention to the lack of civil rights in Cuba. At 7:50, Marcos was detained along with other activists, while passing through the checkpoint on the way to Santiago de Cuba. State Security officials Kevin, Sergio and El Chino put hem to the patrol car and driven them to the Police Department in Niceto Pérez.
Marcos was threatened with imprisonment if he continued his activities against Revolution. He was released several hours later.
