At approximately 7 p.m. on 23rd December, the activist of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) Henry Enrique Cuba Rodríguez was detained by First Lieutenant Anael Hernández and Lieutenant Feyo Nicle Hernández, officers of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), as he was about to travel to Havana to spend the end of the year with his family. After his arrest, he was taken to the PNR unit where he remained for more than 24 hours under interrogation by Major Antonio Rodríguez of the State Security Department, who issued the arrest warrant because the activist was allegedly going to bring some information to Havana. This officer also threatened him that if he was caught carrying any kind of document or anything else to Havana "he was not going to see the sun for a long time" and that "the time for handing him over has ended" that he should not play with fire because he would get burned. The activist was released at 9 am the next day.
