On 26th December, activist Keyber Rodríguez Fernández, member of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), was threatened at his home by Alfredo Oliveros, mayor and chief of confrontation, with imprisonment if he continued to incite people to join the opposition and for informing them about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The officer also told him, in a threatening tone, that even if he was sick he would be put in jail, that his cell was ready. The activist defended his character of opponent even if it meant going to prison. The officer insisted that he had been warned, also told him not to gamble with his fate, and that if other officers had not lied to him in prison for several years, he would. Before leaving, the officer called the members of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in the neighborhood where the activist lives, to witness the warning he had given him, even in front of his family "so that there would be no regrets when some measures were taken against the activist”.
