Emilio Solad Vásquez, an activist with the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), was verbally attacked by members of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in the neighborhood where he lives. These people insulted him when the activist himself said publicly that the blame for the situation the people were going through in Cuba was that of the government did nothing to ensure that the people had what they needed to be able to live decently, that they always put all the blame on the Americans. These people also threatened to beat him up if he continued to speak ill of the revolution and accused him of being an enemy of the revolution. The president of the CDR, Delia Furones, threatened to report him to the police if he continued to behave as he was doing. The head of surveillance, Carlos Sánchez Nuñez, threatened to denounce him because he and his son allegedly "botean" (work as private taxi drivers) without a license, and warned him that for violating the law by transporting tourists without a license he could not only lose the car, but could also go to prison. According to them, those who are not with the revolution cannot enjoy their privileges.
