An UNPACU activist accused by State Security of inciting counter-revolutionary activities



On 9 March 2021, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Roberto González Pelegrín, was a victim of discriminatory and violent mistreatment carried out by a State Security official, Captain Midelsi Durán Campo and his informant Arturo Ruiz Díaz. The official along with Arturo Ruiz accused the activist from organizing counter-revolutionary activities. Also, the activist was accused of inciting the citizens in Baracoa to stand up against the government. González Pelegrín was victim of death threats received from his neighbor, who was also, encouraged by the State Security, spreading around an information that the activist was calling on locals to join a demonstration in Baracoa against the regime.
