An activist from Camagüey Province detained for 6 hours and threatened by State Security



Oreste Varona Medina was detained by police officers in his house after he shouted anti-government slogans. They took him to the police unit in the municipality of Minas. At the unit, State Security agents, without identifying themselves, started to threaten him, saying that he will be prosecuted based on the law on pre-criminal social dangerousness. Also, they fined him 30 pesos for disturbance of public order. Oreste was released approximately after six hours he spent at the police unit.
