An activist from Camagüey Province detained by police when defending her husband

Yurisay Gómez Peña was detained by police in front of her house. This happened when she left the house in order to defend her husband Oreste Varona who was just being detained for shouting anti-government slogans. The officers took her to the police station in the municipality of Minas. There, unidentified State Security officials threatened her to be prosecuted according to the law on pre-criminal social dangerousness. She was also fined 30 pesos for disturbance of public order. Gómez Peña was released after six hours in detention.
