On 9 August 2018, Rafael Puentes Creme was heading for a peaceful meeting taking place in the house of the activist Yoanny Beltrán Gamboa in the quarter La Azúcar, in the Eastern part of the city of Guantánamo. When approaching the quarter, he was detained by police officials. Then he was transported to a police unit in Reparto Obrero. There he was interrogated and threatened by official Kevin. He told him that he will be imprisoned for his participation in meetings which try to destabilize the Cuban Revolution. According to the official, the activists Yoanny Beltrán Gamboa and Henry Couto Guzmán are initiating actions which are later carried out by people like Rafael. In reality, the mentioned meetings are group trainings focusing on Cuban fundamental rights. Rafael was released at 12 pm on the same day.
