Veteran waiting for help to fix his house since 2016

Miguel Mariano Matos is a former member of the fight against the bandit in the Escambray and an active member of the communist party. He was also selected more than once as a standout and work hero. In 2016, after Hurricane Matthew passed through the city of Baracoa, his home was totally destroyed, Miguel Mariano rebuilt the house as he could, leaving it almost uninhabitable. The promise of the party and the government to receive a new property or materials for the reconstruction of the old one, remained dead letter. On the visit received on October 18, 2019, state officials informed him that due to new regulations in commerce and the existing crisis, they could not give him a house or materials for reconstruction.
