Lady in White from Matanzas prevented from renewing her passport

On 5 April, 2018, at 10 am, a human rights defender Sissi Abascal Zamora went to renew her passport to the migration office (Emigración y Extranjería) located in the municipality of Jovellanos, Matanzas Province. However, she was informed by the authorities that this procedure could not be done since her travel status had been regulated. When she asked why her right was being violated if there was no pending commitment she did not meet, the officer replied her that she should know the reason.
