Cuban Patriotic Union activist arrested after being accused as intellectual author of anti-government posters



On the evening of April 17, Roberto González Pelegrín, an activist of the Patriotic Union of Cuba, was arrested, accused of being the intellectual author of placing anti-government posters in the rural area of the municipality. The arrest was carried out by officers of the National Revolutionary Police on orders of the State Security. After his arrest, he was interrogated for more than 48 hours by Alfredo Oliveros (Major and Chief of Opposition Confrontation), who threatened to sentence him to 4 to 5 years in prison for enemy propaganda and 2 years for damage to State property; he also gave him several physical blows. Mr. Gonzalez was released but not before letting him know that a judicial process would be opened against him, for which he could not leave the municipality, otherwise he would be arrested.
