An UNPACU activist detained at home due to an alleged illegal departure from the country



In the afternoon, 17 April 2021, State Security officials appeared in the house of an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Roberto González Pelegrín. Although Robert was in the bed due to his injury of his knee, he was detained and taken to the central police station in Baracoa. There he was kept until the next day, 18 April, 12 pm. According to the officials, the reason for his detention for his alleged illegal departure from the country. The officials were also claiming that the goal was to put Roberto in jail because of inciting villagers to a popular uprising.
