On February 21, 2016, an activist Manuel de Jesús Albear Odelin was going to attend Sunday Mass in the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba province. The Mass was held in order to support release of political prisoners. At 6:15 am, the victim was detained in San Lino Street by the State Security official Sergio along with the National Revolutionary Police. He was later driven to the Police Department. He was kept there until 12 pm and then released.
