On 12 November, Henry Couto was moving to the centre of the city of Guantanamo when he was arrested on the central road to Santa María by patrol car 616. He was transferred to the police unit of that city where he was detained from 9 am to 2 pm that day. He was also threatened by officers Kevin and Raul who blamed him for the burning of garbage tanks, claiming that Mr. Couto Guzman is the head of anti-revolutionary action and activities in the province of Guantanamo. Moreover, they told him that he would be kicked and beaten to death. Officer Raul said, "Look how easily we stopped you on the road, where no one sees you, you turn up dead and it would be said that it was a traffic accident and no one would find out.” In the face of these accusations, Mr. Couto declared himself innocent and defended the right to civic struggle that is carried out peacefully by the pro-democracy and human rights movements.
