On 4 October 2019, a human rights activist and a member of the of Cuban Youth Board, Yamilka Abascal was summoned and interrogated at the emmigration department of the police station in Pinar del Río. The interrogation was led by State Security agents. This situation was triggered by a fact that the activist had attended an event organized by the Institute of Race and Equality where she was personally explaining the situation of her husband who is currently in the prison. During the interrogation she was asked to describe what exactly she did during her trip, when exactly it was undetaken and who she met with. Moreover, she was strongly threatened by the agents. She was told that if she continued with her activities, she could be prosecuted again.
