Independent trade unionist prevented from taking her flight and traveling to Colombia

At 6:20 am, María Elena Marrero was about to travel to Colombia in order to attend a preparation training for her work. When she checked in and was heading to pass through the customs, she was detained and driven to an office where she was informed that as person of public interest, she would not be allowed to travel. According to María Elena, two customs officers accompanied by two more people dressed in civil clothes, probably agents from the State Security Department, participated in this action. Then they told her to stop by at the police station in her municipality to check, where the problem is. However, she had already done it beforehand, as well as checking with other institutions involved in the process. All of them informed her that her travel status should not be regulated, which would normally mean that there are legal limitations to leave the country.
