Independent journalist interrogated and threatened for his work



Roberto was about to take a plane going to Havana in order to participate in the Book Festival. When he was already on his way to the airport, on the exit from Guantánamo, a police patrol car stopped the vehicle he was travelling in. Two State Security (DSE) officals got off the car and detained Roberto. Then he was taken to the police unit Parque 24, where he was interrogated on his work for Cubanet and the possibility of quitting the job. Roberto replied he would not stop working for Cubanet, whatever they would offer him. The officials told him, that so far he has not experienced the severity of DSE, but from now, they will start with regular detentions. He was released at about 9 am, being threatened with imprisonment if he continued writing the articles for Cubanet and when the flight to Havana had been already gone.
