Activist detained to be prevented from attending Mass



Enrique Estrada Peña was on his way to Santiago de Cuba to participate in Mass and a protest march which were being conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and the end of repression against Cubans. At 5:40 am, when the bus he was travelling by was passing through the checkpoint, he was detained by police and State Security officials. When he expressed his disagreement, he was pulled off the bus by officials known as Kata and Tanquetica and he was not allowed to go to his destination.
