An activist Diosmani Clark Cúrvela was on his way to Santiago de Cuba province to participate in a march which was being conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and to end the repression against political activists. At 5:40, he was detained at the checkpoint in Cayamo by police and State Security officials, all of them following orders issued by Lt. Col. Cantillo, the State Security Chief in Caimanera. Diosmani, along with the other activists, started protesting in the bus and expressed an opinion that the detention was carried out for no reason and without legal documents. The detention turned violent and all activists were driven to the Police Department, where they were threatened with imprisonment. The victims were released few hours later.
