Laudelina attends Mass in Santa Rita de Ricci Church in Guantánamo every Sunday and on February 14 she was trying to get to Mass as usual. When she was passing through the checkpoint in Caimanera, the State Security officials stopped the bus and detained her. She was forced to stay there until the Mass finished and then she was released.
