On 23 July 2019, Yeris Curbelo Aguilera was about to take a flight going to Panama. He was invited to participate in a training on independent journalism organized by an NGO called Article 19. At the José Martí International Airport, the migration authorities prevented him from travelling, explaining that his status was regulated. Paradoxically, Curbelo Aguilera participated in a training in Trinidad and Tobago between 8 - 15 June and there was no problem with leaving the country.
