Yoel Acosta is an independent journalist and a member of the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO). On that day, when leaving his house, he was detained by a State Security (DSE) official known as Rogelio. Then he was taken to the police station in Baracoa. There he was told that he was making video reportages without being authorized or having any other right for that. According to the officials, he was committing a crime of usurpation of functions. Based on that, they fined him 2000 pesos to be paid in 72 hours. He was also threatened with imprisonment if he continued doing the same. Then he was released.
