Activist detained and beaten while heading to Mass



On January 31, 2016, an activist Manuel de Jesús Albael Odelin was going to attend Mass in the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba province. The Mass was held in order to support Ladies in White, Todos Marchamos campaign and the end of political repression. At 6:40 am, Manuel was detained and beaten in Santa Rita Street by policemen and State Security officials. Then he was driven to the operations unit. He was threatened by instructor Charlo to be put in jail. Manuel was given an official warning and later released.
