Veteran deprived from State's assistance

On 29th October, a commission from the Cuban Communist Party, the combatants' department, the police and the social security department went to the home of a Cuban citizen to notify him that his social assistance of $204 Cuban pesos (£6) was to be withdrawn, because Baracoa was declared in a state of crisis due to Hurricane Matthew. The citizen is suffering from depression as a result of his participation in the war in Angola where he served nearly 60 missions. As a consequence of his mental illness and of being abandoned by the Cuban state and the department of assistance to war veterans, his quality of life is precarious.
