Cuban Republican Party (PRC) activist Yurislandy Rodriguez was violently arrested along with four members of his family by several police officers. Among the state agents were First Lieutenant Wilber Espinosa Cisneros and Lieutenant Ulises Castillo Castillo of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR), the State Security Department (DSE) officer who calls himself Leandro, and the instructors identified as Inés and Alexander. Claims of violations of his rights at the time of arrest were silenced by beatings, he was grabbed by the neck and left almost breathless by a strangulation key and thrown inwards with such force that he fell into patrol car #566, causing alterations to his right arm and shoulder. In addition, they sprayed their bodies, focusing on the faces. The amount of spray used was such that on the way they had to stop and get out of the car for a while, because even the state agents were almost suffocated by the tear gas. However, the people arrested remained locked up while the officers cooled off outside. Once at the police unit, the activist was threatened with charges of assault, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace. None of the detainees were provided with mattresses, sheets, or medical attention. The activist was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, under the form of correctional labour without internment.
