Iván Hernández Carrilo was returning from his trip to Cuba to Jose Martí International Airport. When he was going through the immigration, the officials told him they would search his luggage in their office. However, Iván insisted on searching his things publicly. Shortly after, a custom officer took him his passport and the other officials started beating Iván, dragging him on the ground. Then he was put into the patrol car and taken to the Police Department in Santiago de las Vegas. At 11:30 am, he was released. The next day, Iván went to the airport to pick up his luggage. He was confiscated a radio, several pieces of clothes, pictures of Virgen Mary, records and documents.
