Activist detained while waiting for a bus to Colón



Nelson Acosta Ríos was on his way to Colón in order to support a protest carried out by Ladies in White. When he was waiting for a bus, a secret police official Yunier came to him and insisted on talking to him. Nelson told him him that he would wait for a patrol. The patrol arrived at 8:55 and he was immediately detained and taken to the police station in Máximo Gómez. During the detention, he was threatened with beating. The officials told him they would make him disappear if he continued to go to Colón and support Ladies in White.
