Human rights activist from Banes detained by State Security when leaving the house of his colleague

On 16 February 2020, a coordinator of the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO), Alexander Rodríguez Santiesteban, was detained based on an order of the State Security. This happened when an anniversary of the organization was celebrated in the municipality of Banes. When Rodríguez Santiesteban was leaving the house of his colleague, a coordinator Marta Díaz Rondón, he was detained by State Security officials and taken to the police station. There he was threatened with imprisonment if he kept participating in similar activities in Banes. He was kept in detention for eight hours and then released.
