Activist from Banes detained when leaving a house of his colleague



On 16 February 2020, an activist from the Eastern Democratic Alliance (ADO), Walter Cañete Cruz, was detained for the first time. That day was an anniversary of foundation of the organization and Cañete Cruz was visiting the organization coordinator, Marta Díaz Rondón. When he was leaving her place, the house was surrounded by police and State Security. Cañete Cruz was detained by officials known as Fredi Aguero, Wilson and Eliade Peña. They threatened him that if they caught him again in Marta’s house, he would be imprisoned. He was released eight hours later.
