Independent lawyer prevented from travelling to Jamaica at the José Martí Airport

On Wednesday, 25 September 2019, Madelyn Rodríguez Martín was going to the José Martí International Airport in order to get to Jamaica and participate in a capacity building training. After having received her flight ticket, she went directly to the migration office. When she approached the officer on duty, he immediately called his superior and Madelyn was taken to another office at the airport. There, she was told that she was banned from leaving the country and that´s why she would not be able to travel. The official did not know the reason and made a gesture to show that they had nothing to do with the decision as they were just following the orders coming from the State Security agents.
