In the afternoon on 17 March 2021, an activist from the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU), Miguel Caballero López, was a victim of psychological and discriminatory mistreatment carried out by Alberto Áviles Loyola, the head of the Social Security Department at the Ministry of Labor. When Caballero López came to apply for social security benefits, the mentioned official said to the activist that it was not the Ministry of Labor where he had to apply, but the Government of the United States since he was all the time publicly criticizing the Cuban Revolution. The activist replied that he did not come to ask for an alms, but rather to apply for something he was entitled to get as a Cuban citizen.
