At 6 am, Georvis Chivas Castillo was on his way to the Santuario del Cobre in Santiago de Cuba Province to attend Mass which was being conducted to demand the release of political prisoners and the end of police oppression. He was detained by State Security official Major Cantillo along with police from the checkpoint in Cayamo. Then he was taken to the Police Department in Caimanera and threatened with going to jail . He was released at 11 am.
