A man from Guantánamo detained for being suspected of hoarding



Leonides Gómez Favier was stopped by several inspectors and sector police chief in the zone Center, Lieutenant Odelin Aranda, when he was carrying home three bags filled with basic products for the household. They asked him for receipts for the goods he bought. As he did not have any, they confiscated him all the bags due to hoarding. Gómez Favier said that it was for his family and children and he was not a street vendor. Moreover, he asked what dictatorship he lives in which triggered his detention. He was handcuffed and taken to the police unit Parque 24. There he was kept for 4 hours and then released. During the detention, he was threatened that if he committed the same crime, he would be accused of disobedience.
